Tabouli

Tabouli Salad is perhaps the most popular Middle Eastern food item in the United States. Tabouli is a refreshing mix of parsley, bulgar wheat, lemon and seasonings. It is a natural breath freshener and so healthy too!

PARSLEY IS IMPORTANT
Our Jemila Tabouli Mix is unlike the many national brands that list fresh parsley as an option, and usually in too small an amount to resemble the original recipe of my mother (and every other tabouli-making mother I grew up around). Fresh parsley is a requirement. So while we do have diced tomatoes and cucumbers as options, it's not tabouli without an abundance of fresh parsley. And while I prefer the curly variety, flat parsley is 100% acceptable. Use what is fresh and clean.

Jemila Tabouli Mix is easy to use. Just soak the mix in 1 cup of water, while you chop the parsley, then mix together adding olive oil, optional tomatoes and cukes. Yield is approximately 6-8 huge servings or 12-14 medium servings.

  • Tomatoes and cucumbers (see package)
  • Feta cheese, crumbled
  • Canned chick peas, drained
  • Toasted pita bread (crumbled and added just before serving for crispiness)
  • Scallions, diced
  • Grilled steak, chicken or fish, diced
  • Tahini, replacing 50% of olive oil, or to taste
